Washington D.C., December 11, 2024 – An investment affiliate of Bernstein Management Corporation (BMC), a regional leader in real estate investment and management, has expanded its commercial portfolio with the acquisition of Reston Crossing, a 334,142 square foot Class-A office complex on 13.9 acres. It is currently 54% leased and consists of two buildings located at 2001 and 2003 Edmund Halley Drive in Reston, Virginia, just off Reston Parkway and the Dulles Access Road (Route 267). Reston Crossing includes future development potential with entitlements in place for the addition of new office, residential and retail space.

Reston Crossing was built in 1998 and underwent extensive renovations in 2015 that include EV charging stations, lobby improvements, an onsite café with outdoor lounge and fitness center. BMC is also planning to make immediate signage upgrades and add a new conference center. The property offers clients an excellent location for access to tech talent, as well as a direct connection to Metro and the extensive retail and restaurant amenities of Reston Town Center via pedestrian bridge. Additionally, it is adjacent to the Halley Rise mixed-use development which includes Wegmans (opened in 2021) and additional planned development.

An investment affiliate of Bernstein Management Corporation (BMC), a regional leader in real estate investment and management, has completed the acquisition of The Shay retail condominiums, consisting of 27,000 SF of ground floor retail situated directly below its existing multifamily asset The Shay, located across two buildings at 1921 and 1924 8th Streets NW in the Shaw submarket of Washington D.C.

Built in 2015, The Shay retail is home to leading destination retailers including Warby Parker, Le Labo, Union Kitchen Grocery and Rewild as well as eateries including Cracked Eggery, Gogi Yogi, Compass Coffee and Cava.

According to Bernstein Management Corporation CEO Josh Bernstein, “The acquisition of The Shay retail  both creates operating efficiencies with The Shay apartment community and allows us to further our investment in the vibrant Shaw neighborhood with a best-in-class retail asset.”

BMC acquired The Shay, a 245-unit multifamily community, in June 2023.

Bernstein Management Corporation (BMC) and Finmarc Management, Inc. have recently completed eight new retail leases totaling over 20,000 sq. ft. at White Oak Town Center, a new grocery-anchored retail development offering 100,000 sq. ft. of space in north  Silver Spring, MD.

Located at the corner of Columbia Pike and Industrial Parkway in Silver Spring, MD, White Oak Town Center will welcome the following retail tenants: AT&T, Dave’s Hot Chicken, European Wax, First Watch, Inspire Nail Bar, Jersey Mike’s, Oak Barrel & Vine and Starbucks when it opens in the first half of 2024. 

“White Oak Town Center is poised to provide this booming submarket of Silver Spring, MD with a desirable mix of top tier grocery, convenience and service-oriented retail,” said Austin Herndon, SVP of Commercial Leasing for BMC.

Under development since 2021, construction at White Oak Town Center will wind down within the next few months as retail tenants begin their interior build-outs prior to the center’s grand opening.

Loudoun Tech Center is an office building located on Ridgetop Circle in Sterling, Virginia close to the intersection of Routes 28 and 7, just north of Dulles airport. Bernstein Management Corporation (BMC) engaged architectural firm Perkins + Will (P+W) to complete the brand repositioning of its adaptive reuse development at 1222 22nd Street.

Inspired by the building’s industrial window grid, its street address, “1222,” and the LEED-platinum sustainability features, architect and designer Armando Nazario of P+W designed a layered 12’x13’x18” stainless steel sculpture for the lobby, adorned with moss and leafy plants for depth and verticality. The finished sculpture provides a textured juxtaposition to the renovated building’s modern industrial aesthetic.
