Bernstein Management Corporation (BMC), a regional leader in real estate management and investment, in partnership with Placemakr, a tech-enabled hospitality platform, and developer Urban Atlantic, a community-minded real estate development and investment company, have completed the acquisition of 1735 K Street NW, a 12-story, 96,720 SF office building centrally located on Washington DC’s K Street NW corridor, traditionally recognized as the city’s main thoroughfare for business and lobbyist activity, thanks to its proximity to the US Government and The White House.
The building at 1735 K Street NW was built in 1963 and is currently 100% leased. With Urban Atlantic taking the lead on development, the partnership has future plans to redevelop and reposition the property into a 106-unit Placemakr Premier property, offering ground-level retail and flexible multifamily living with hotel-style services in apartments equipped with comforts of home including kitchens, in-unit washer/dryers, and bespoke amenity spaces.
According to BMC CEO Josh Bernstein, “DC is underserved with housing options and overserved with commodity office options. The flex housing hospitality format will allow us to offer an attractive alternative for visitors and longer-term residents at a compelling price point.”
The property is located on the 1700 block of K Street NW between 18th Street NW and Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington DC, just 3 blocks from the White House and one block from Farragut North Metro station.
