Green Living Initiative

We have a beautiful home. Let’s keep it that way.

Bernstein Management Corporation is increasingly aware of the environmental impacts of energy consumed in our communities. We are committed to making changes that will increase our overall efficiency while maintaining a comfortable environment and would like to partner with our residents in an ongoing effort to conserve resources.

Here's What We're Doing:

Replacing incandescent with compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) in apartments and common areas

CFLs last up to four times longer and use 75% less electricity than comparable incandescents.

Purchasing Energy Star-rated air conditioners and refrigerators

These appliances are at least 10% more efficient than equivalent conventional models.

Heating buildings with natural gas, the cleanest burning fossil fuel, whenever possible

Natural gas significantly reduces carbon emissions compared with heating oil.

Insulating all exposed sections of hot water and steam pipes to reduce fuel consumption

CFs last up to four times longer and use 70% less electricity than comparable incandescents.

Here's What You Can Do:

Reuse and Recycle

Buy reusable products instead of disposable ones. Recycle as much as you can in the convenient recycling bins you’ll find at every Bernstein community.

Report Leaks

A steadily dripping faucet can waste over 500 gallons of water per month. Please notify us of leaking basins, tubs and toilets right away.

Buy Into Energy Efficiency

Buy energy-efficient products and avoid anything that comes with excessive packaging.

Turn it Off/Unplug TV

Includes lights, TVs, phone chargers, stereos and computers. Even switched off electronics may use power while plugged into an outlet.

Keep Windows Closed During Heating and Cooling Season

If you experience conditions that are either too hot or too cold in your apartment, please inform your building manager.

Pass it On
